MP will be asked to resign after 20 years missing in action
Posted on November 16, 2011 by admin in John Minto, Press ReleasesTonight is the first opportunity for the people of Manukau East to hear from their local MP and MANA Party challenger John Minto.
A “meet the candidates” forum has been organized at Te Puke O Tara community centre in Otara for 7pm.
“I will be pointing out to the community that the local MP has been missing in action for 20 years on the most important issues facing the community. I will be suggesting he resign and withdraw from the election”
I searched the internet with his name in association with the biggest problems in the electorate. I tried –
• Poverty
• Unemployment,
• Hungry kids,
• Pokie machines
• Liquor outlets
• Education underachievement
• Maori and Pacifica health
• 3rd world diseases
• Teenage pregnancy
• Mental health
• Diabetes
• Loan sharks
• Fast food outlets
• Minimum wage
• Low wages
• Overemployment
• Racism
But I couldn’t find a single comment of any substance. This MP has not spoken out on ANY of these issues and yet these are the very issues which have hammered most of this electorate for the 20 years he has been their representative.
This is an indictment on the Labour Party which has awarded him the status of MP-for-life and taken for granted the votes of this predominantly Maori and Pacific electorate.
I want to stress this is not personal. The local MP is a good person and is good company over a cup of tea but he is unsuitable to represent one of the New Zealand’s lowest-income electorates.
