Yes, no, maybe?
Posted on November 21, 2011 by admin in Hone Harawira, Press Releases“Jeez Pete … all Maori want is a yes or a no” said MANA Leader Hone Harawira when asked about Pita Sharples’ ‘clarification’ about asset sales.
“How can you say that you oppose asset sales but that you will support National who are going ahead with asset sales?” asked Harawira
“And why brag about a special deal for iwi, when the PM made it clear in a statement yesterday that he would not give iwi preferential treatment?”
Mr Harawira said MANA had been challenging the Maori Party to come clean on its position regarding asset sales because Maori people did not support them, and wanted to know what everyone’s views were.
“No wonder Maori Party voters are switching to MANA” said Mr Harawira.
“At least we’re clear – no sale of state assets, not to any one, at any time”
“The Maori Party’s position confirms what we’ve been saying all along. If their iwi leader buddies get a slice of the action, they’ll support the bill. If they don’t get it, the Maori Party will still support the bill anyway”
