Mana candidate Kereama Pene, hopes website will appeal to youth

With less than 4 weeks of campaigning left until the General Election, Tamaki Makaurau Mana candidate Kereama Pene is launching a website to appeal to the youth vote – the largest portion of voters but also the least likely to vote.
He says technology is constantly evolving.
“Like my own children, rangatahi are avid users of sites like Twitter, Bebo and Facebook. With our website, we will be aiming to give daily updates – not only written but with video clips and running commentaries.
“Our rangatahi have been instrumental in developing the site so it will have a more ‘youthful’ appeal and hopefully a more widespread appeal. It is more likely they will read the ‘net’ rather than a delivered pamphlet”
Mr Pene says the website has been developed with the assistance of musician, Ryan Monga, also a supporter of Mr Pene and the MANA Movement.
“Ryan has such an appeal as a musician and also as a mentor for youth.
“He and some of our youth have developed a track which will be the theme song for our website. They’ve done an amazing job. With technology, it has the potential to reach thousands in a short space of time.”
The track ‘MANA’ will be launched with the Tamaki Makaurau website, www.manatamaki.net tonight Tuesday night in Mangere.”
