Clinton Dearlove

Born in Whangarei, I attended my primary and secondary schooling in Whangarei Terenga Paraoa.

In 1991 I was matriculated into Otago University and graduated in 1995 with an Honours degree in Microbiology.

In 1995 I started my medical degree at Auckland University where I graduated with a Bachelor of Human Biology in 1999. In 2000 I decided to pursue a career in Education and in 2002 began teaching as a Te Reo teacher at Breambay college.

From then until this year I have worked in both mainstream and total immersions schools.

These include 5 years at Opononi Area School, Kamo High School, Te Kura Kaupapa Maori o Rawhitiroa and more recently Te Kura Takiwa o Taipa.I also spent time consulting for Waitaha research on the 1940 and 1040 claims in Nagpuhi. This solidified my advocacy for the Wakaputanga and Te Tiriti.I am also an advocate for Te Reo Maori and believe that every person in this country should know how to speak it.

I love Kapa haka and have enjoyed my time as a composer and tutor at secondary and senior level.

I am a keen harmonica player and am currently learning the piano and guitar. This is matched by my love of all outdoor pursuit and am a keen sports fan. Though a political novice what I lack in political experience I gain in tenacity, exuberance and a willing to continually learn.
