PRESS RELEASE: HONE HARAWIRA – 24 JUNE 2011
Posted on June 24, 2011 by admin in Press ReleasesIt’s not a press release the way you’d normally read one
But it’s how I’m rolling at the moment
Please post far and wide …
PRESS RELEASE: HONE HARAWIRA – 24 JUNE 2011
One day out from the election and I’d just like to say
That it’s been a tough campaign
Up against the Maori Party, the Labour Party and the National Party
And more than a hundred thousand dollars spent by the opposition
All to try to keep me out of parliament
To try to stifle the free-thinking of the north and
To try to suppress the voice of dispossessed
So it’s really heartening to know that despite all that
We’re still ahead in the latest polls
So to all the kaumatua and kuia, mums and dads,
Workers, unemployed, beneficiaries
And our rangatahi as well …
I thank you all from the bottom of my heart
I have treasured your calls from the curb
Your cheers from the passing cars
Your jokes and the all the laughter
Your suggestions, your challenges
Your korero over a cuppa tea
Your prayers and your blessings
And your simple words of encouragement
So keep the faith folks and let’s show the world
That Tai Tokerau treasures its independence
That Tai Tokerau wants a leader:
- who stands by his word
- who stands up for the treaty
- who has proved himself in building for the future
And that Tai Tokerau stands by those who stand by them
Best wishes to my opponents tomorrow
But Solomon needs a rest, and Kelvin is already on the list
So as I close, let me just add one more message
To everyone in the Tai Tokerau
From Kelston to the Cape
Mai Hokianga ki Taumarere
And I’d ask that you share it with your friends today
And keep it in mind when you go to the polls tomorrow
A vote for Kelvin will only get you Kelvin
But a vote for HONE will get you HONE and Kelvin
VOTE SMART
VOTE WITH MANA
VOTE HONE

Post Author June 24, 2011 at 6:53 pmKia Ora Hone
Kia kaha & I know you are going to do well tomorrow. This take not only has relevance to Tai Tokerau, but also impacts on all Maori throughout Aotearoa.
My respect and thoughts also go out to matua Solomon & Kelvin.
I have always been a Labour supporter but changed to a Maori Party supporter. At this point in time, I am now anticipating a change to the Mana Party at the next elections in a few months time, as for me it is an easy choice because I put all the candidate personalities out of the picture and concentrate on the path of Treaty of Waitangi and which party may be most effective to fulfill its destiny of being truely acknowledged for how nga tupuna katoa had meant it to be, and not subject to compromises. I believe in this destiny despite an awareness of a majority of uninformed and also informed who deliberately attack the Treaty of Waitangi for their own reasons.
I believe in the fostering & nurturing of whanaungatanga & kotahitanga among all ethnic races within Aotearoa and this kaupapa aligns and in no way conflicts with my belief in the pursuit for the acknowledgement fulfillment of the Treaty of Waitangi.
Nga mihi

Congratulations for standing up for what you believed in. Please now tread carefully leading up to the November elections. I now hope Mana Party sets up seats all over Aotearoa. Due to split allegiances, I was undecided who to support but my thanks and appreciation goes out to Matiu of Ngati Tuwharetoa for his comments above as that greatly assisted in my focus. There is a big rode ahead now, so kia kaha and stay staunch but pragmatic and the subtle changes you are moulding yourself into and toward for the betterment of us all, are to be applauded. Tautoko also to Matt McCarten, Willie Jackson etc etc for all their mahi input.

Post Author June 27, 2011 at 12:10 pmWell done Hone on winning Tai Tokerau.
We desperately need your voice in parliament but you left it too late with all your pissing around in the last 8 months. And therefore you very nearly lost because your majority is only 867 (with 1934 special votes still to be counted – so you might still lose and that would be hugely tragic for Tai Tokerau and also for every Kiwi).
So stop pissing around. Get organised. Get real.
And UNDERSTAND the people. Understand why we like you. We like you because we don’t like bullshit either.
I am not Maori and not on any Maori roll. But I want to vote for the Mana Party because I see it as an anti-bullshit vote and therefore the most useful vote I can cast on 26th November 2011.
But I can’t vote for the Mana Party unless you stand a candidate in my Ohariu-Belmont electorate.
So get yourself sorted. And sorted fast.
And stand candidates in every electorate in Aotearoa.
Thing outside the square. Thing outside your own world. And hey Matt McCarten – if you’re reading this, you understand and you need to organise everything fast.
Kia kaha
